Applications are now open for the forthcoming secondary student exchange program to Indonesia.

The following details are subject to scheduling changes:

Outbound

  • Depart Melbourne: Saturday 9 December 2017
  • Arrive Jakarta: same day

Return

  • Depart Jakarta: Saturday 20 January 2018
  • Arrive Melbourne: Sunday 21 January 2018

31 July 2017 Closing date for applications
14 August 2017 Notification of acceptance
18 August 2017 Deposit payment due
29 September 2017 Balance of payment due
2 October 2017 Recommended: Vaccination check-up with specialist travel clinic
4 October 2017

      

  • Passport due via Express Post; Completed Visa Application form and 1 passport size photo due
  • Completed photo and Pillion Consent form due
  • School uniform requirements due
  • About You form due via email

9 October 2017  Passports and visa applications submitted to Indonesian Consulate
6 November 2017 Estimated return of passports to AIAV
12 November 2017 Cross-cultural information afternoon
  • Passports returned to students
  • Proof of travel vaccinations
  • Proof of travel insurance, if not using AIAV medical forms due for students with existing medical issues
13 November 2017  Recommended:
  • Start looking for Australiana “oleh-oleh”. Remember a substantial gift for host families. Ideas include:  
    • books, calendar, T-shirts for family members, plaques, wall hanging
    • English language materials (e.g. idiom dictionary), opal jewellery, soft toys (if family has young children), coasters, place mats
    • Australian board game or figurines.
  • Estimated date of host family announcements
2 December 2017 Participants must have registered with DFAT
9 December 2017 Depart Melbourne (Tullamarine), arrive Jakarta
20 January 2018 Depart Jakarta 
21 January 2018 Arrive Melbourne (Tullamarine)
