Forthcoming Student Exchange

Applications are now open for the forthcoming secondary student exchange program to Indonesia.

The following details are subject to scheduling changes:

Outbound

  • Depart Melbourne: Saturday 8 December 2018
  • Arrive Jakarta: same day

Return

  • Depart Jakarta: Saturday 19 January 2019
  • Arrive Melbourne: Sunday 20 January 2019

Key dates

30 July 2018 Closing date for applications
13 August 2018 Notification of acceptance
17 August 2018Deposit payment due
 3 September 2018 Check adequacy of vaccinations and supply IndoAustay with documentation on any congenital or medical conditions needing translation into Indonesian
28 September 2018 Balance of payment due and advise IndoAustay of Garuda e-ticket details for designated flights and dates
3 October 2018

      

  • Passport due via Express Post; Completed Visa Application form and 1 passport size photo due
  • Completed photo and Pillion Consent form due
  • School uniform requirements due
  • About You form due via email
8 October 2018  Passports and visa applications submitted to Indonesian Consulate
5 November 2018 Estimated return of passports to IndoAustay and latest date for GP's health attestation
11 November 2018 Cross-cultural information afternoon
  • Passports returned to students
  • Proof of travel vaccinations
  • Proof of travel insurance, if not using IndoAustay medical forms due for students with existing medical issues
14 November 2018  Recommended:
  • Start looking for Australiana “oleh-oleh”. Remember a substantial gift for host families. Ideas include:  
    • books, calendar, T-shirts for family members, plaques, wall hanging
    • English language materials (e.g. idiom dictionary), opal jewellery, soft toys (if family has young children), coasters, place mats
    • Australian board game or figurines.
  • Estimated date of host family announcements
1 December 2018 Participants must have registered with www.smartraveller.gov.au
8 December 2018 Depart Melbourne (Tullamarine), arrive Jakarta
19 January 2019 Depart Jakarta 
20 January 2019 Arrive Melbourne (Tullamarine)
